- CATA is responsible for the accreditation of Athletic Therapy education programs, the administration of the National Certification Exam, and maintaining national practice standards of Certified Athletic Therapists by overseeing member’s adherence to the Scope of Practice, Codes of Ethics and Professional Conduct, and Continuing Education Requirements.
- CATA owns the protected certification marks "Certified Athletic Therapist" and "CAT(C)". Only members of CATA "in good standing" that have met the national accredited education, certification, and continuing education requirements of the CATA may legally use these marks.
- Health insurance claims can be verified by confirming that the provider is a Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT(C)) "in good standing" with CATA.
- No additional provincial membership, affiliation, registration, licensure, or equivalent is required to validate a claim for Athletic Therapy services by a Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT(C)).
