While exertional heat stroke remains one of the leading causes of sudden death in sport, 100% survival can be ensured when best practices are implemented. This webinar will cover current heat related illnesses epidemiology in sport, military and occupational settings.
Risk factors affecting thermoregulation and evidence-supported prevention strategies, proper management and care of exertional heat stroke, and current best practices associated with recognition, assessment, treatment, will also be covered.

Speaker: Dr. William Adams
Dr. William Adams is the Associate Director of Sports Medicine Research with the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee where he oversees the Sports Medicine Research Program focused on injury and illness prevention in sport. He also is the Director of the US Coalition for the Prevention of Illness and Injury in sport, which is one of eleven International Olympic Committee designated Research Centres. Dr. Adams has published extensively on prevention and care of exertional heat illness and he has also treated over 65 patients with exertional heat stroke while participating in athletics events.
